Beyond the Strong Black Woman: How Our Black Owned Clothing Brand Celebrates Femininity

Redefining the Strong Black Woman: How Our Black Owned Clothing Brand Celebrates Femininity

There’s an expectation that as black women, we are supposed to be.

We’ve all heard it, stereotypes like

“Strong Black Women”, “Queen”, “Miss Independent”, “Superwomen” and so many more…

And sure, some of those words can be encouraging but if we look closely, they're a deeper message. An image of a woman so resilient, independent and strong that she doesn't need anyone to help her.

And these stereotypes tended to perpetuate a lie that in the black community that being delicate, vulnerable and soft women are seen as weaknesses that could be exploited.

In fact, it almost feels black women are often praised to be resilient, independent, masculine women. If they are viewed as emotional, it’s often an extreme version of such, “angry black woman,”

And that’s why our brand was born to challenge these negative stereotypes by portraying a different kind of black woman - a soft black woman, one that is to be desired, feminine and protected.

Embracing the Feminine Women

And that’s why our brand was born to challenge these negative stereotypes by portraying a different kind of black woman - a soft black woman, one that is to be desired, feminine and protected.

My sister and I grew up in a Christian home, where traditional and conservative values were upheld. Our parents loved and respected each other and laid that foundation for us. And the women we wanted to be was in stark opposition to women culture expected us to be.

And while we see this problem as related to black women, this is also bigger than us. And that's why we built this brand and our community for women who value their God-given femininity. Women who cherish their softness, and are unashamed by it but rather see the beauty in traditional values.

Our clothing isn’t just about fashion—it’s about reclaiming the right to be seen as gentle, traditional, soft, and feminine.

This isn’t just about fashion—it’s about reclaiming the right to be seen as gentle, traditional, soft, and feminine.

Christian Owned Clothing Brand Run By Two Sisters Who Love Jesus and Serving Others

As a Christian clothing brand, we view femininity as a beautiful creation of God. We do not idolize or demonize femininity or masculinity but celebrate it.

We do not believe in femininity as a healing force or a god meant to be worshipped and so we promote a God-given femininity that is wholesome and light.

We also do not enforce modest fashion. We look for respectable styles that will accentuate your femininity but we do not enforce a legalistic view of fashion because we believe that the Holy Spirit will guide you with your choices.

Your faith is not depend on what you wear but your relationship with Jesus

I hope you would join us on our feminine journey as we celebrate a version of femininity that challenges stereotypes and embraces the women God has created us to be - fearfully and wonderfully made and beautifully feminine.
