Are Mini Dresses Classy?
When you think of mini dresses, classiness isn’t the first thought that comes to mind. I mean, when I think about mini dresses, I used to think about the itsy-bitty-tweenie-weenie dresses meant for teens or early 20s era of our lives.
And if you're a christian, like us, the second thing that comes to mind is should you even be wearing mini dresses?

The Better Way to Finding Classy & Feminine Mini Dresses
So, when it comes to looking more feminine and classy, especially in a mini dress, it boils down to the quality of the dress.

Long Sleeve Tweed Mini Dress
Let’s start with our best selling Tweed Mini Dress. Of course, the tweed dress is the staple of femininity and class. But, if you take a closer look, you see that the woven polyester tweed material is thick and lined to provide structure without compromising form.
And that’s why we love this dress so much. I remember working in the office, and having to walk outside to a nearby cafe for lunch. And because I worked in the city, the buildings would create a tunnel for the winds on those breezy days so when you walked up the street and weren’t prepared, you would have a Marilyn Monroe moment.
And that’s why we instantly fell in love with this dress. The tweed material was so sturdy and thick that you can wear this dress going out without worrying about a random wind hiking up your skirt.
Blue Short Sleeve Tweed Mini Dress
Another mini dress that we’re loving is the blue cotton mini dress. The body of this dress takes on a more fit and flare style, but this cotton tweed dress is thick and lined with adequate support. Love that this dress is a little more relaxed than the long sleeve tweed dress - kind of like the classy casual alternative. Perfect for a lowkey church event, casual work event or running errands.
Classy Pink Blazer Mini Dress - Romper
Ok, So, I guess this is slightly a cheat because it’s more of a romper that has the body of a mini dress, but it finishes like a mini dress.
But here's why we choose to include it. Similar to the other two styles, we’re watching a mini dress made with a robust fabric but has an interior lining. Another reason why we chose to include this dress is the thoughtful nature of it. Like the dresses before, we’re not seeing the use of clingy material rather just naturally highlighting the women’s form. I also like how this romper has a deep neckline so we offset the dress by adding shorts to make it a romper.
So, when it comes to mini dresses, not all mini dresses are created equally. And that’s why at Tiana Bay, you’ll see us carry mini dresses that are classy, feminine and fun without being too revealing or cheap.
Because when we hand-select our styles, it’s more than how cute the style is. It boils down to the fabric, stitch and construction of the dress. So when we offer a style to you, you can feel confident that you’re going to look cute, feminine and classy.
Now, the second question I often get is,
as a Christian, can I wear a mini dress? Is it modest?
Well, yes and no.
I think the whole debate about modest fashion can be tricky, because if we’re not careful, the conversation about “dressing modesty” can devolve into a legalistic argument - ie skirts has to be this length, dress should be this length
And the bible never mentioned anything about dressing modestly. This is the bible they said,
'And I want women to be modest in their appearance. They should wear decent and appropriate clothing and not draw attention to themselves by the way they fix their hair or by wearing gold or pearls or expensive clothes. For women who claim to be devoted to God should make themselves attractive by the good things they do.'
'Don’t be concerned about the outward beauty of fancy hairstyles, expensive jewelry, or beautiful clothes. You should clothe yourselves instead with the beauty that comes from within, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is so precious to God. This is how the holy women of old made themselves beautiful. They put their trust in God and accepted the authority of their husbands. '
The conversation is about being modest in appearance, not in fashion alone. And if you dive a little further, the Greek word used for modesty is aidos, which translates to humility.
And this makes us think that dressing modesty is less to do with what is on the body but more to do with the character of the woman wearing the styles. And that is a very common theme surrounding our behavior in the New Testament - what is the nature of our hearts while wearing or doing what we do.

but yes, you can wear a mini dress and do so to the glory of God.
Because, friends, the clothes do not define you - God already did that - what you wear helps to celebrate the woman God is creating you to be
