A Girly’s Guide to a Maxi Dress

A Girly’s Guide to a Maxi Dress

Why the Right Maxi Dresses Will Not Out of Fashion

I love the quote about Cinderella. You know the one I'm talking about!

Cinderella wasn't looking for a Prince – she wanted a night off and a dress

There is something powerful when it comes to wearing the right maxi dress

Maxi dresses are easy and fun dress that can be styled with sandals for a casual look to wear around the house or running errands. Or accessorizes well for a more formal look for a wedding guest or dinner out. Therefore. it's a perfect dress to have in your wardrobe.

And I've got 4 easy tips to keep in mind when buying a dress.

First, let’s start with the basic. The top. Adjustable straps/Halter Ties. Given that most maxi dresses are sleeveless, it is the bare minimum requirement. Remember, the goal of this dress is to compliment your beautiful figure. Therefore, having adjustable straps or halter tie top helps to provide a more flattering look. This is also important for another reason that we will touch on later.

Second, the fabric should be lightweight and flattering. Remember, these beautiful dresses are meant to flatter your figure not weigh it down. And often time, some materials just weigh down the dress.

I heard men say that maxi dresses are unflattering. And while some dresses are can be, I've own a few that when I wear them men stopped me to compliment me.

Third, the style of the dress should be tight enough to show you’re a woman but loose enough to show you’re a lady. This is important for any girly girl wardrobe, and this also celebrates the child's play from women's wardrobe! Maxi dresses are long and flowy dresses but there should be a sensual touch to the dress. This can be in the form of side slits or v-neckline or even the form-fitting bodice, you want to make sure the dress enhances your body and thus enhancing you.

You’re wearing the dress, the dress isn’t wearing you.

Now, the flip side is that you don’t want too much showing. For example, a very deep v-neckline with high side slits on both sides can be too revealing and ultimately backfire on the look you're going for.

And lastly, the dress should be lined if possible. This is piggybacking off the last two points, but it is important. Quality-made maxi dress should be lined, not all the way but enough to make sure the parts you want to keep hidden is covered. This is so important with light-colored or print colored dresses.

Prints are fun for maxi dresses but again they need to be quality made. Otherwise, you run the risk of getting a tacky dress.
